The Nashvillians “Tumbling Down” Is A Hit

“Tumbling Down” by the trio the Nashvillians is a hit in this reviewer’s eyes. “Tumbling Down” is written by Troy Johnson, Brett Boyett, and Scott Lindsey, who together comprise the new trio the Nashvillians. The minute the song starts you can tell how effortlessly the Nashvillians fit together as a band and blend their experience in the industry to come together in the well-crafted song that is “Tumbling Down”. It is a great song. The singer has a strong soothing voice reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen. The song has a true 80s vibe to it and I could envision the song as part of a movie soundtrack. The lyrics are descriptive of how the past should stay there. “Every road is just a lonely old blacktop… and memories in your head you can’t forget.” These lyrics stuck with me for every moment that you lay awake at night with thoughts and memories in your head that don’t let you settle down for a good night’s rest. The strong and engaging melody draws the listener into the song and makes you want to listen over again. This is a personal song for the members of the Nashvillians and means a lot to the band. “We wanted to write something that painted a picture of the chaos in the world and the hardships that we all endure. This song has been an autobiographical journey for many of us in the band,” commented Nashvillains band member and “Tumbling Down” co-writer Brett Boyett. “Tumbling Down” is the second single that the trio wrote as a band. It is the first single that they released and will be included on the band’s upcoming album.

The Nashvillians came together as a band due to a common vision during writing sessions. Brett Boyett and Scott Lindsay thought that the country music scene needed a rock meets country outlaw sound. Both were aware of Troy Johnson through the songwriting community and thought that his “gritty vocals” would fit in perfectly to round out the trio. It was fate when Boyett learned that Scott Lindsay shared a publishing company (A Million Midnights Music) with Troy Johnson…the rest was history. As a band, the Nashvillians hope to expand the country music genre by blending in the untold stories that are rarely written in today’s popular country music.

All three members of the Nashvillians are talented artists on their own coming together to form this trio was a clever step in their careers. Troy has been a staff writer at Sony/ATV Warner Brothers. He has written songs for Keith Urban, The Chicks, and James Taylor to name a few. Troy has also toured with artists like Los Lobos, Hootie and the Blowfish, Pam Tillis, and Billy Ray Cyrus. Brett Boycott brings his reputation as a composer/songwriter/instrumentalist and music producer to the Nashvillians. Brett has amassed hundreds of credits in movies and television. He was the Executive Music Producer for the film Forever My Girl that was released by Roadside Attraction an affiliate of Lionsgate. On the soundtrack, he worked with artists like Travis Tritt, Josh Turner, Lauren Alaina, Mickey Guyton, and Alex Roe who was the film’s lead actor. He has written songs for Cassadee Pope and Drake Bell of Nickelodeon’s Drake and Josh. Brett has also had music in television shows like Nashville, Young and the Restless, and Friday Night Lights to name a few. Rounding out the trio is Scott Lindsey. He is a well-respected songwriter who has written songs for Kevin Costner &Modern West, The Bellamy Brothers, and Black Stone Cherry. He has performed with many artists ranging from Jason Aldean to the Insane Clown Posse.

These gentlemen are very talented individuals. The song “Tumbling Down” is one that this reviewer is happy to say is on a bunch of my playlists. Give them a listen. I am sure they will not disappoint.
