Twinnie Lee Moore – Cool – Single Review

Twinnie Lee Moore is a new up and coming Country Pop singer who comes from York in the North of England, but she is not new to the industry. Twinnie has been on our TV screens since 2014 and is best known for her role as Porsche in the soap Hollyoaks.
Her name first came to my attention whilst I was writing a review for The Shires – Green Note EP – she was credited on the song Black and White.
Sparking my interest, I then decided to do a bit more research on her, It was then that I made the connection with Hollyoaks and discovered that not only was she an actor and songwriter but also a singer. Twinnie was unsuccessful during the blind auditions of The Voice in 2012 performing the song The Climb (which was made famous by Miley Cyrus and written by Jessi Alexander and John Mabe, two very well known and highly successful writers in the Country Music industry). Going by the success rate of winning contestants on The Voice, I am sure Twinnie isn’t that fussed about not getting through, especially as it seems to have encouraged rather than stopped her wanting to achieve her dream.
When I read that Twinnie is a big Country Music fan, I was delighted. I was interested also to learn that she had left the Hollyoaks set to kick start her career in music. Not just any music, Country Pop. This made me keen to listen to her singing right away.
Not being a massive fan of UK Country, other than great artists such as The Shires, Ward Thomas and Dexeter, I was a little bit worried I would not like the song and that it would just be generic pop or forced Country with a possible fake accent. I was pleasantly surprised with her single Cool as instantly I could hear the country element to the track but could also see it getting away with also being pop to those unfamiliar or not fans of Country music. We are all aware that there are many fans of Taylor Swift who would never know she was a country star!
In my opinion Twinnie has great vocals and a great range yet retains this soft yet slightly gravelly tone (in a good way). She very much reminds me of the singer Jewel.
The song Cool itself is a nice kind of catchy. The lyrics are sweet and simple and the melody is very calming, pretty and not too dissimilar to some of the younger country pop crossover artists in the US. It brings to mind the very early Taylor Swift songs. You can certainly see that Twinnie listens to a lot of the genre and why she would attract attention from people such as Ben Earle of The Shires. I particularly like the chorus which has a nice ring to it and I can’t stop singing it.
Will this song get the radio air play it deserves? Who knows. With the right management and promotion I would like to think at least Radio 2 will back the single. Bob Harris is very supportive of UK Country so this is a possibility and I can foresee the song reaching a wider audience, especially the fans of Hollyoaks who I believe will love the song, not just because they are fans of the show, but because it really is a decent song.
Regardless, I am sure the UK Country fan base will embrace Twinnie with open arms, giving her a warm welcome and supporting her on her journey. I am hopeful for live shows, perhaps as a pop up artist at Country 2 Country Festival? We are still eagerly awaiting the line up!

Twinnie will be releasing her debut EP in February sometime. I have no date or EP title yet, but I am really looking forward to hearing it upon release.
