What an exceptional mixture of talent!
When I first heard them on the Storme Warren radio show, I was driving in the car. I literally had to pull over and stop to listen to every word of their new single, “Confetti”, oh my, how catchy is this melody!! Gone West released a 4 song EP, that you will play over and over and over.. Their 4 part vocal harmony is incredible! They sound effortless, and their voices are warm and friendly. The members of the group are Colbie Caillat, Jason Reeves, Nelly Joy, Justin Young. They have been musicians in the Nashville area for years, seasoned professionals, and have joined forces for this newly formed music venture.
“This Time” is their slower ballad song, The lyrics in it, “Yesterday is Superman’s kryptonite”., and “There might not be a next time”, are so true about many relationships, we can all relate to this, right? And the Harmonies on it, makes the song just perfect, you feel like they know what we have all been through.
“Gone West” I love as well.. The melody is danceable, you just feel like running through a field and never stop!! It’s about going west of Tennessee to California. (but of course going back to where home is now Tennessee!) It is all about getting reconnected,and refocused, with youth, experiences, and feelings. (love the guitar solos on this one, acoustic of course!) So refreshing!! “Home is Where the Heartbreak is” about a breakup and how they feel about it. “Love found somewhere else to live” what do you do? That’s the message they are singing about.
My Feelings are all warm and fuzzy from listening to this EP over and over and over. Its easy listening, just plain fun, and again, those harmonies!! Wow!!!!
