Americana duo The Cactus Blossoms, featuring brothers Jack Torrey and Page Burkham will perform at Bush Hall, Shepherds Bush on Monday 23 January, showcasing their critically acclaimed 60s country pop group sound to UK Americana fans, who will no doubt fall head first for the brother’s unique, charming and stylish re-imagination of music from the early to mid 20th Century, chiefly inspired by 60s pop-country legends including: The Everly Brothers. Tickets are on sale and available here.

The Cactus Blossoms stated: “We weren’t born in the wrong era. We just got into some music from a different era and found a way to make it our own.”

Brothers Jack Torrey and Page Burkham, born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota are The Cactus Blossoms, a close harmony family duo who began their journey to becoming one of the most promising acts in the young Americana scene by performing well-known and obscure country songs in a former Honkey Tonk bar in Minnesota capital, St. Paul. The brothers then began writing their own music and critical acclaim quickly followed. There own music was closely comparable to the early work of The Everly Brothers, who are the duo’s main source of inspiration, alongside artists including Hank Williams. Through their re-imagination of the stripped back close harmony country and pop groups of the early 1960s, The Cactus Blossoms have developed an ageless rejuvenation of the classic sound for the modern era. Gorgeous harmonies are paired with minimal retro-sounding instrumentation. Vintage guitars, with their springy reverb are backed by subtle upright bass and soft brush hit drums. The brothers authentic music has already won plenty of fans states side including revered modern retro star JD McPherson who became the producer behind their critically acclaimed debut You’re Dreaming.

Praised by publications including Rolling Stone, NPR, Folk Alley, Noisey, Garden & Gun and CMT – The Cactus Blossoms are fast on the rise, with Rolling Stone Country describing their record as “pretty damn dreamy.” American Songwriter also stated: “It won’t take more than one spin for these songs—all but two penned by Torrey – with their lovely, pure melodies and sharp wordplay, to get stuck in your brain.”

Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
