The 34th annual KISS Country Chili Cook-off took place on 29th January at C.B. Smith Park in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The festival draws some of the biggest names in country music as well as some of the fastest rising stars. This year was no exception, with stars Brooks and Dunn and Luke Combs playing the main stage while shooting star Bonn e. Maiy rocked the Ford stage.

A driving rain and gusty winds couldn’t keep thousands of fans away from C.B. Smith Park to see their favourite country music stars take the stage for the 34th installment of the KISS Country Chili Cook-off. As the rain blew at right angles most of the day the early acts like Jon Langston and Tyler Rich did their very best to keep the crowd on their feet dancing and singing along to the hits while waiting for headliners Brooks and Dunn to come on. Under the shelter of the smaller Ford stage fans were treated to lesser known acts like Bonn e. Maiy, who proved that she will very soon be a force to be reckoned with in country music.

As the sun dipped low onto the horizon the headliners took the stage amid even worse rain and wind. Brooks and Dunn took a break from their Las Vegas residency to headline this event. As expected the duo ran through all of their hits and even dug a little deeper to play some rarities for the ecstatic, if soggy crowd.

As the crowd headed out to the lots the field looked like the aftermath of Woodstock or Reading with mud everywhere with lost trainers and hats everywhere. Regardless of the rain and mud a splendid time was had by all.

Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
