Raintown – Writing On the Wall
I’ve been lucky enough to spend some time with Claire and Paul who make up Scottish duo Raintown, and there is one thing I always notice about them, whether chatting to them or seeing them on stage and that is their chemistry. Many artists try so hard to capture that special something, these guys have it in abundance! Raintown released their album “Writing On The Wall” to great reviews and appreciation by fans and the country music media.
I was instantly a fan of the new album, so I thought a few months on I would take another close look at the album and share with you my thoughts after living with the album for a while!
Looking back at my playlists, this album has stayed a firm favorite and is listen to regularly by me (and my family). What stands out on this album in the quality. Quality production, songs, vocals and lyrics, any of these songs can come up in a playlist in-between US country artists and the songs do not seem out of place!
Writing On The Wall is an album that gives me everything I need, up-tempo, slow, sing a long and reflective songs.
Of course I have my favourites!
I love “Right Here With Me” they sing about things that I know, that I have experienced. “Driving out of Georgia….” I always sing a long to this.
Another firm favourite is “If This Was A Love Song”
Writing On The Wall is rocky and fun and I bet you cant listen without singing along!
I must also mention Forever Isn’t Long Enough and Nineteen Again as stand out tracks.
If you have ever seen Raintown live, you know how fun they have performing these songs and they have managed to get that feeling in this album, and I for one thoroughly enjoy singing along to this album. If you haven’t seen them live.. you should!!
Would I recommend you buy this album? absolutely.. If an album is till in my top ten most played after being out for months, I think its a good sign!
