Melody Sounds Like A Memory
Eric Church talks about it in ‘Springsteen’ and Clint Black in ‘State of Mind’ sometimes listening to a certain song can bring back memories. So I will share a few of musical memories. I would love love to hear what songs bring back memories to you.
Friends In Low Places – Garth Brooks
This is my favourite country song and I am a huge Garth fan. I was so excited to see him play in live in Nashville. When this song came on and EVERYONE sang along it was amazing.. I may have shed a tear of happiness! I cannot listen to this without thinking of that special night
Chicken Fried – Zac Brown Band
Zac Brown Band is a family favourite and most of their early music reminds me of my family singing along. But Chicken Fried, reminds me of family holidays in the southern states of America, driving along and singing along very loudly in the car
Country Girl (Shake it For Me) – Luke Bryan
It was a hot night in Nashville and my Luke Bryan took the stage at CMA Fest in Nashville and it got a lot hotter!! My friend Jenny and I, both (in our 40s) transformed into giggling teenagers….. and had huge smiles on our faces.
Tennessee Whisky – Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake
Watching this live at the CMA Awards was breathtaking, it felt so special. But my memory was hearing the sound check of this song for the awards with Amy Westney. We just knew it was going to be special, but no idea how special.
White Lightening – The Cadillac Three
These guys are one of my favourite live acts. Listening to this takes me back to a cold London night and watching them at the Garage. They recorded the live version of this at that gig.
Leave The Night On – Sam Hunt
This song reminds me of my teenage daughter, Georgia, singing along to it on our summer holidays.
When You Say Nothing At All – Alison Krauss
Back in the early 90s my husband and I took a year out to travel. Part of that travel was driving around Australia in an old Toyota Hiace, we only had one tape…. and this song was on it!
Cruise – Florida Georgia Line
As soon as I hear this song I am transported to Las Vegas and to the music festival Route 91 Harvest drunk dancing and singing very loudly and badly with David England.
