Home Free’s New Album Land of the Free Features Don McLean’s “American Pie”

Acappella group, Home Free has released a patriotic new album titled Land of the Free. The album includes 10 tracks that include star-spangled covers and all-star collaborations including Don McLean’s classic “American Pie.”  Land of the Free is now available on all streaming platforms, made possible by Home Free Records.

The standout from the release of Land of the Free is the classic” American Pie.”   Don McLean had the following to say about the acapella duet with Home Free: “I am really excited about this version of American Pie… everyone that has heard it just loves it. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to do it because I have always performed with a guitar…and it just blew me away.”  The duet was recorded during the pandemic in Nashville. The video that accompanies it was produced remotely in 2020. This is one new accolade that can be added to the list for Don McLean and his song “American Pie” can add to the list. The list of accolades for Don and the song include the following: being in the Library of Congress Recording Registry, it is in the Top 5 songs of the 20th Century by the Recording Industry of America (RIAA), as well as handwritten song lyrics were auctioned by Christie’s for 1.2 million Dollars. As for Don, a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame whose catalog has been recorded by the likes of Madonna, Garth Brooks, Josh Groban, Drake, and “Weird Al” Yankovic in addition to many more artists. McLean will also be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was added to the Las Vegas Walkway of Stars in 2019.  “American Pie” also will be featured in The Avengers movie, Black Widow and the upcoming Tom Hanks‘ movie BIOS.

Land of the Free features all-new versions of songs that underscore the spirit of the nation. Highlights include harmonious renditions by the group of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA,” Tim McGraw and Tyler Hubbard’s “Undivided” and Brooks & Dunn’s “Only in America.”   Also included on Land of the Free will be a version of “God Bless the U.S.A” featuring Lee Greenwood and The United States Air Force Band.

The acapella entertainers, Home Free, have made their mark on the country music scene. They have been called country’s favorite acapella group by Taste of Country. These extraordinary performers have continued to build a loyal fan base with their harmonious versions of hits by John Mayer, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Maren Morris and The Oak Ridge Boys as well as many more artists.
