COUNTRY IN THE SOUTH

By Ben Rose

First, let me introduce myself: Ben Rose, singer-songwriter and host of Dorset’s ‘An Evening Of Country.’ I started writing lyrics and melodies from a young age, before picking up the guitar at sixteen years old. From then on, my songs took a turn from rock songs to a more simple, alternative sound. It was only at eighteen, one of my friends showed me some modern country music on YouTube (The Band Perry, to be precise) did I start writing country music on a regular basis. It was at college when it happened, and I remember going back that evening, looking up artist after artist, losing myself in the country world – never to return.

It didn’t take long before I became really passionate about country music, and over the past fourteen months, I have been running my own night in Bournemouth and Poole, known as ‘An Evening Of Country.’ It is a night of acoustic country music, old and new, originals and covers, and performed by UK artists.

Celebrating the night’s running success, ‘An Evening Of Country’ is taking over The Winchester, in Bournemouth, on Saturday 7th May. Starting from 7.30pm, the evening will begin with myself, performing a set of my originals and country covers, before handing over the rest of the night to the amazing Amie Knight, winner of this year’s ‘Voice of Ferndown’ and recent ‘Spotlight UK Artist’ on UKCountryRadio.com; the extremely talented and entertaining duo, Soulcreek, famous for their take on some of my own favourite artists, such as Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan; and, headliners for the evening, the wonderful and charismatic husband and wife team of Stanford Road, blessing you with their own incredible songs and breath-taking harmonies!

I’ll be back again, letting you know how the evening at The Winchester (Saturday 7th May – 39 Poole Hill, Bournemouth BH2 5PW) goes and keeping you up to date with all things country in the south!

Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
