An artist that should need no introduction whatsoever to any country music fan. The Academy of Country Music award winner for Top New Female vocalist back in 1972 Tanya Tucker is due to make her debut appearance at C2C Country to Country where she will follow in the footsteps of Marty Stuart, Emmylou Harris and Lyle Lovett to perform what fans now refer to as the Sunday afternoon ‘legends’ slot in London.
A career lasting almost 5 decades which includes 25 studio albums, 40 Billboard top 10 songs of which 10 have hit the number 1 spot along with countless recognition being extensively nominated for awards from the Country Music Association, Academy of Country Music and Recording Academy throughout her career.
It is however her most recent work that has finally brought her the coveted Grammy Awards that a career like this rightfully deserves. While I’m Livin’ was the first release from Tucker since 2009 and the record produced by Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings that has received acclaim from all corners and was subject to glowing reviews, including our own which you can read HERE. The Album won the Award for Best Country Album whilst the record’s fourth single ‘Bring My Flowers Now’ which Tucker co-wrote with Brandi Carlile and the Hanseroth Twins took home the accolade for Best Country Song in addition to receiving nominations for Best Country Solo Performance and the All Category Song of the Year Award.
Her trip over to play in Europe for Country 2 Country is not the only adventure she is embarking on this year as she headlines the CMT Next Women of Country: Bring My Flowers Now Tour where US dates started in February and run through until June. The CMT initiative that looks to support and highlight female artists by announcing an annual class along with a headline tour where an established female artist is joined by the next generation of country stars which this tour also features the likes of: Brandy Clark, Madison Kozak, Aubrie Sellers, Erin Enderlin, Walker County and Hailey Whitters. Her C2C appearances however will allow fans on this side of the Atlantic to see one of the genres most decorated figures deliver work from her Grammy winning masterpiece and delve into her extensive back catalogue to perform some all time classics.
