C2C 2020 Artist Introductions: Kassi Ashton

An absolute enigma, she is one of the most fascinating and charismatic performers you will encounter on any stage and a level of energy that is completely unrivalled! So if you haven’t yet had a chance to experience (and an experience is exactly what it is) Kassi Ashton live or listen to her unforgettable voice and blissful creativity in her songwriting you are in for an adventure as she is one of the most unique performers in Nashville right now! Raised in California BUT not that one! ‘California, Missouri’ is not just her home town but the title of her 2018 debut release through Universal Music Group Nashville back in 2018.

We are still awaiting a first extended release but there have been 5 further tracks she has shared since her debut single which cover a very broad spectrum of songs from the vulnerable ballad ‘Pretty Shiny Things’ to her fun and energetic wild night anthem ‘Field Party’ along with the super sassy releases ‘Taxidermy’ and ‘Violins’. She has also appeared on Keith Urban’s ‘Graffiti U’ record joining him on ‘Drop Top’ whilst her latest highly powerful track ‘Hopeless’ is out now (listen HERE).

This long overdue return to the UK has been something that many fans have been eagerly anticipating since her last visit in 2018 when she appeared along with Tenille Townes, Chris DeStefano and Ashley Campbell as part of the CMA Songwriters Series where we last caught up with Kassi (which you can read HERE). Since her last visit there has been a lot happening as along with Travis Denning and Jameson Rodgers she was awarded one of the first CMA KixStart Artist Scholarships where one of the most prolific aspects was making her first appearance inside Nissan Stadium on the Saturday night during the 2019 CMA Fest in Nashville, Tennessee.

Ashton is not just viewed as dynamic and creative in both her sound and songwriting but also recognised in the new generation of emerging talented female artists (which I am sure the majority of people agree that we definitely want to hear more of) by CMT in their Next Women of Country initiative where she was named amongst the same class as Abby Anderson, Kalie Shorr and Ashley McBryde in 2018. More recently she has been on the road with Maren Morris followed by dates with Jordan Davis where she has been proving to more fans that there is a God given reason that Kassi rhymes with Sassy and we guarantee she will be one of the absolute highlights of the whole festival! That Saturday night Aftershow party in London is going to be off the scale!

Kassi Ashton returns to Europe in March for C2C Country to Country where she will appear on the Spotlight Stage inside the Main Arena in Glasgow on Sunday 15th March, before playing the separate ticketed Official Aftershow party later that evening. (Tickets available HERE) She also appears in London on Saturday 14th March on the Spotlight Stage, BBC Radio 2 Stage in the Indigo and at Saturday night’s Official Aftershow party (which again is a separate ticket and you can find tickets and information HERE) in addition to performing at the festival in Berlin. You can find all her upcoming tour news and keep up to date with Kassi on her website and socials:

Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
