US Summer Tours – 2015 Edition

Touring is a huge part of country music, and it’s no more prominent as during the summer months in the US, where almost every major act heads out on the road to promote their latest releases in the warm summer air. It’s usually a gruelling schedule with plenty of inebriated fans, huge amphitheatres’, arenas and sometimes even stadiums, as package tours become the order of the day piling several acts of varying fame onto one bill under a major headlining act. Here’s our 2015 edition of the hottest tours to catch this summer.

Tim McGraw ‘Shotgun Rider’ tour With: Billy Currington, Chase Bryant A mainstay of the country music touring scene, as usual Tim McGraw is heading out on the road during the summer and he’s bringing a 00’s favorite as well as a brand new act already making waves on the radio.

Lady Antebellum ‘Wheels Up’ tour With: Hunter Hayes, Sam Hunt Featuring a country pop superstar in the prime of his youth and the biggest break-out star of last year, Lady A’s upcoming tour sees them trawl all over the world in a new bid to champion fresh, commercial sounds coming out of Nashville. Plenty of big hits coming your way.

Darius Rucker ‘Southern Style’ tour With: Brett Eldredge, Brothers Osborne, A Thousand Horses, Cassadee Pope Darius is back with a whole new album this Spring, so it only seemed fitting to name the tour after it and bring out a bunch of acts who fit in with a mainstream country but slightly quirky style. Southern style!

Brad Paisley ‘Crushin’ It’ tour With: Justin Moore, Mickey Guyton We all know a Brad Paisley show is going to be a fun time, full of the guitar man’s sense of humor and plenty of great licks. He’s also one of the few major acts bringing a woman out with him, and that has gotta be respected.

Dierks Bentley ‘Sounds of Summer’ tour With: Kip Moore, Maddie & Tae, Canaan Smith Dierks is on a high these days, with his commercial success matching his critical acclaim after so many years of being underrated. Watch him take over the stage with these three of acts of varying style – points go to this one for being one of the more musically-varied tours on offer this summer.

Florida Georgia Line ‘Anything Goes’ tour With: Thomas Rhett, Frankie Ballard If bro is your thing, this tour is probably for you. With Florida Georgia Line packing a punch as a celebrating live act and their buddies Thomas Rhett and Frankie Ballard also with a few number ones under their belts, this is sure to be a hell of a good time.

Luke Bryan ‘Kick The Dust Up’ tour With: Florida Georgia Line, Randy Houser, Dustin Lynch, Thomas Rhett, DJ Rock If Luke’s incredible touring record is anything to go by, and with such a massive roster of acts ready to get the crowd pumpin’, this looks set to be one of the biggest events of the summer.

Jason Aldean ‘Burn It Down’ tour With: Tyler Farr, Cole Swindell, Dee Jay Silver, Jake Owen, Kenny Chesney, Brantley Gilbert The extension of Jason’s 2014 summer tour and 2015 winter tour, he will part-continue his run here and also merge some of the shows with Kenny Chesney’s tour for maximum stadium impact and plenty of acts on the bill. Jason’s live show is practically legendary, so this shouldn’t be missed!

Shania Twain ‘Rock This Country’ tour With: The Doobie Brothers, Dan + Shay, Gavin DeGraw, Wes Mack The pioneer of modern country pop and queen of the 90s Shania Twain is returning from retirement to go out with a bang on her final ever tour. Considering how acclaimed her two-year Vegas residency was, and how this is your last chance to see her playing a full headlining show, I’d be first in line to get tickets.

Eric Church ‘The Outsiders’ tour With: Brothers Osborne, JD McPherson, The Lone Bellow, Chris Stapleton Eric long has a history of adding less commercial acts to his bill in order to provide them a platform to make new fans, and the latest leg of The Outsiders tour is no exception. For any fan whose tastes lean less towards pop and more towards Americana, blues and southern rock, this is the show for you and is unlikely anything else on the mainstream country music scene.

Kenny Chesney ‘The Big Revival’ tour With: Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Jake Owen, Brantley Gilbert, Cole Swindell, Chase Rice (select dates) If this isn’t the tour of the summer, I don’t know what is. With so many acts appearing on the bill depending on where you see the show, it’s worth popping along to a few different dates on this one to get the full effect. It’s been two years since perpetual entertainer Kenny went out on tour, so with a whole new album of crowd-pleasers to play, you can guarantee the energy’s going to be crazy on this one.

Garth Brooks ‘The Garth Brooks World’ tour With: Trisha Yearwood Garth continues to set new records for tickets sold at almost every venue he plays on this tour, and his novel way of announcing new dates bit by bit to stop scalping from exploiting fans, means we’re never quite sure when it’s going to end. Having started in September 2014 Garth has previously mentioned he’s expecting it to go on for three years, an astonishing length of time for one run. Clearly that means you can catch this show summer after summer after summer.

Annette Gibbons
Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
