The Rising talk about touring with Jess and the Bandits and covering “Getaway” car by Dexeter
We are thrilled to be touring with Jess and The Bandits this October, its a real honour to be asked to do the tour with them and we cant wait to get started. We were introduced to JATB while we were at C2C last year and we instantly liked their music. So we are looking forward to hearing the songs live again and also hanging out with the guys. Allot of the venues on the tour are also on our ‘bucket-list’ of venues to play i.e. Borderline, King Tuts so we are super excited about getting the opportunity to play those venues, not to mention the first date of the tour is sold out. So the whole tour already feels like its going to be one big adventure and we cant wait to meet all the new faces out there.
When the idea was put across for us to put together covers of various acts on the tour we obviously went with covering one of JATB singles. However, we also really wanted to cover a Dexeter song. Firstly, we really admire what they are doing, plus after meeting them at C2C we saw that they were great people, so that was important. However, we wanted to pick a song from their albums that we could take in a different direction, something that wasn’t expected. So after listening to the albums on repeat we finally settled on “Getaway Car”. we changed about the chord sequences and arrangement around allot to give the song is a slightly darker tone to fit in with the lyrics of feeling alone and wanting to get away from it all.
