The Band Perry

NAME: The Band Perry (Neil Perry, Reid Perry, Kimberly Perry)

DATE OF BIRTH: July 23, 1990 (Neil), November 17, 1988 (Reid), July 12, 1983 (Kimberly)

HOMETOWN: Jackson, Missouri

SOUND: Lite-traditional country imposed upon a pop/rock base with dynamic performance and delivery characterized by Kimberly’s powerful lead vocals.

BIOGRAPHY: Raised on a combination of rock & roll and traditional country, after being born in Missouri the siblings grew up in Mobile, Alabama. At a few years older than her brothers, Kimberly was already performing in her own band as a teenager with Reid and Neil as roadies, as young as 8 and 10 years old. Soon they began to open for their sister under the name the Mobile Music Machines, but it wasn’t until 2005 that they formed The Band Perry and appeared on a New Faces of Country tour. Three years later, they were discovered by Garth Brooks’ manager Bob Doyle, who got them to record some demos that were sent to Scott Borchetta, head of Big Machine Label Group. He signed them to the newly-formed Republic Nashville in August 2009 and they quickly released their debut single, the sprightly ‘Hip To My Heart’, which just cracked the top 20 country Billboard charts.

The following April saw them release ‘The Band Perry EP’, which included six songs that later ended up on their self-titled full-length album. Produced by Nathan Chapman and Paul Worley (who also produced the rest of the future album), it got good reviews from critics but only reached #32 on the country albums chart. However, later that year when the full record hit stores, it peaked at #2 (#4 on the Billboard 200), featuring either co-writes between the siblings or another family trio, The Henningsens, who last year made their debut as artists. It has since been certified as platinum and produced five singles, with ‘If I Die Young’ and ‘All Your Life’ becoming #1 hits. The former went 4x platinum.

Following their breakout onto the country music scene as one of the genre’s top groups, The Band Perry went back into the studio with Rick Rubin, eventually switching to Dann Huff, in mid-2012. They toured with Brad Paisley throughout Europe later that year and also appeared in his music video for ‘Southern Comfort Zone’, releasing the highly-anticipated ‘Pioneer’ in April 2013. It spawned the #1 lead single ‘Better Dig Two’, which was certified platinum, while the other two released thus far both reached the top 10. On September 30, 2013, Kimberly announced that she was engaged to J.P. Arencibia, a Major League Baseball player. In the December of that year, they returned to Europe on their headlining ‘We Are Pioneers’ world tour, and continued to play throughout the US into 2014, also performing at the pre-game show of the Super Bowl XLVIII.

Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
