Throwback Thursday Artist Spotlight: Hank Williams

After attending the 50th Annual CMA awards I was inspired to start a series to spotlight the very artists I grew up listening to, the artists of yesterday that forged the path, are the idols of today’s country artists and the ones that have left a legacy of great country music. Today, and the third of the series, is about Hank Williams.

While some may think of Jr. and “Family Traditions” when first saying Hank Williams, you’ll find the legend behind the name was well before Jr.’s time. Recently depicted in Hollywood film “I Saw The Light“, the life and legacy of Hank Williams has long been known by the true fans of the genre. Though Williams reckless abuse of alcohol became a hindrance in his public appearances during his time it didn’t cloud the illustrious career and talent this man left behind. Williams died way too soon but his talent lives on in the notes and lyrics of his music that can be celebrated for generations to come. A true pioneer in the genre, Williams helped forge the path for all the current artists of today. Like history, you can always appreciate whats in the now if you look back and hold reverence for the past. I hope you enjoy this playlist of songs and covers that celebrate the great Hank Williams.

Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
