Ten Minutes with Old Dominion
Introduce your Band
We’re Old Dominion. Trevor, Whit, Geoff, Brad and Matt.
How did you get into country music?
Some of us grew up listening to country. A couple of us really got into it after moving to Nashville.
How would you describe your sound?
This band started as a way to showcase the songs we were writing in Nashville, and that’s always been at the core of our sound. We’re a band with all sorts of influences, ranging from rock to top 40 to hip hop, playing country songs.
What is your favourite country music song?
Five of us, so tricky to answer. Also, how do you pick your favourite song from a genre that spans so much time and so many different styles?
It changes, but probably Snapback right now. It’s the current single, so it’s exciting to see the audience reaction grow from show to show.
Who would be your dream collaboration?
With so many Artists putting a cover song in their sets, what would you cover and why?
We set aside a section of our set to cover some to the songs we’ve written that were cut by other artists. Lately, we’ve been including Sangria (Blake Shelton), A Guy Walks Into A Bar (Tyler Farr), Say You Do (Dierks Bentley) and Save It For A Rainy Day (Kenny Chesney).
If we came to one of your gigs, what should we expect?
We want our shows to be high energy and a lot of fun. We like to have a good time on stage, and we want the audience to have as much fun as we do.
note from Annette: I was lucky enough to see Old Dominion recently in Nashville and can tell you that the audience have a lot of fun!!
What’s new with you?
We’re back out on the road for 2016. We built our fan base touring and that’s not stopping any time soon. We’ll be in the US and Canada playing our own shows and opening for Kenny Chesney. We’re also playing for the first time in the UK this March.
We also just got nominated for ACM vocal group of the year and new vocal group or duo of the year.
