Mick Fury- Front Porch of America -Season 2 Update

Think Country Music has been following Mick Fury and his music career for awhile. Mick has been in Nashville for 5 years, playing in town and touring around the country as a musician, which got to him thinking about an idea to document how Americans perceived and related to several different important issues, and how different regions think about them. When Mick first released his Documentary series, “Front Porch of America”,  Think Country interviewed him, and at the time, episodes 1-4 were released..

So fast forward to 2019, and you can now view the remaining 5-7 episodes. They were all filmed at the same time, so the stories, the characters, and the feel of the series remains the same. Just a little catch up on Mick’s life and this journey: He lived in upstate NY, before moving to Nashville, He paid for the entire project with his own money, his perfect quote from our interview is, “everything starts with music”. I think we all agree on that one!

Episodes 1-4 took him and his crew, (his bandmates really), from Nashville up to Washington D.C., to Syracuse, New York, (Mick’s hometown), and then to the Midwest. The journey continues in Ep. 5-7 with the crew going out west, and in all, they covered 9000 miles in 2 weeks. Say that’s crazy, but the result is an intriguing delight of hometown America. What is new about the Americana of today? It has changed with the evolution of the digital age. Social Media Platforms are now how we connect with friends and families, and it is the majority of how business is conducted. It is the new age. Mick wanted to get people across America to unplug for just a short time, and talking in person about issues that are important to them. Mick mentioned that he did it this way because with Social Media, Emails, and electronics, it is difficult to understand the inflection and tone of one’s message, therefore, maybe we have become numb to others feelings. “People feel they are not listened to.” Maybe we are just so super sensitive that we become more angry and short with one another. The good old talking face to face, seeing one’s gestures, and listening to their speech, can make all the difference, and really understand what the message is and engage in healthy discussion. This series gave Mick the ability to connect with individuals that just want their opinions heard.

At the end of each episode Mick and his songwriter/bandmates, incorporated an original song, and is also filmed by them. The one stand out song is, “She Shines”, which also stars Mick and his girlfriend, and they are soon to be married. I am excited to see what adventure Mick has in store for us to see next.. Stay tuned…

Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
