Maddie & Tae EP

One of the most anticipated EP’s of the year One Heart To Another was released this weekend and serves as a little taster for fans of a new full album promised and expected later this year from the icredible duo, Maddie and Tae!

Kicking off the EP is Friends Don’t, the lead single taken from the EP which serves as the first track released on new label Mercury Nashville. As soon as you hear the track you can see how much the girls have grown and developed as a duo since Girl In A Country Song. The song expresses that kind of anxiety you get when you dont know where the relationship is at and the mixed messages being received which is making it hard to know if your really just friends or something more.

As soon as you hear the words  “Hey Momma can you die from a broken heart?” you know you are listening to a heart breaking ballad sang from the heart. When your heartbroke who do you call for advice? Your mama of course and thats exactly what Maddie and Tae express in this track, a heartbreaking conversation on the telephone to your mama! Die From A Broken Heart is probably my favourite track Maddie and Tae have ever produced! It has just been sent to radio and is going to be a sure fire hit. This track is the one that stands out mainly as it shows fans how much the maturity levels have risen for Maddie and Tae and takes their sophomore phase to a whole new level just as they are about to embark on touring with fellow Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood.

The title track of the EP One Heart To Another, another ballad gives the duo the chance to showcase their watertight harmonies once again and sell this ballad! One things for sure these girls have definetely not had an easy ride in getting to where they are today and this is evident throughout the whole EP but this song expresses more of that vulnerable side to the girls.

Ending the EP is the fantastic hilarious female empowering track New Dog Old Tricks. Back to their sassy ways last seen on debut Girl In A Country Song, the girls show they are not to be messed around with when it comes to guys being guys. After hearing this track it was no surprise to me Laura Veltz cowrote it, the genius behind Maren Morris‘ Rich however this was the only track out of the whole EP the duo didnt have a hand in writing!

To sum up the EP definetely showcases the new chapter Maddie and Tae are about to embark on and shows how far they have matured not jus evident through their vocals but as writers also, co writing 4 out of the 5 tracks of the EP themselves. If I had to put a negative on it the only thing I will say as a fan is 5 songs just wasnt enough I think we can all agree we have waited far too long for a follow up Start Here and hopefully by the end of the year we will get that! After hearing this teaser am sure it will be worth the wait!

Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
