John and Jacob were both born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama and grew up amidst the sounds of front porch pickers and Southern gospel singers. They met when they were just seven and started their first band when they were fifteen!

Fast forward to today and they have a rapidly growing reputation both as Nashville hit songwriters and great live performers. Their debut album, suitably titled John and Jacob, was be released on June 29, 2015.

With the roots music of the delta to their south and the soul-stirring sounds of Muscle Shoals to their north, they virtually grew up in a cauldron of soulful music of a distinctly American form. Southern gospel music informed their earliest musical experiences. John’s parents, grandfather and uncle performed in gospel groups and Jacob grew up attending church with his grandmother absorbing the rhythms and harmonies as a young boy.

After a decade of playing clubs, bars and festivals John & Jacob had evolved into a band. Childhood friends Jake Thrasher (bass) and Trevor Davis (drums) along with the most recent addition of Austin Smith (keys/guitar) helped realize the full sound John & Jacob had been hearing in their minds.

Together they have created a stripped-down sound accompanying songs with soaring melodies, rhythmic sophistication, harmonies and call-and-response vocals. Their influences are as diverse as the Beatles, Blitzen Trapper and classic Country music, but their music is very much their own.

The 2014 summer festival season was a busy one for John & Jacob playing SXSW, Bonnaroo, Hangout, Firefly, and the CMA Festival. In July, they toured the UK with Kacey Musgraves. Returning to the US their October 10th debut at the Grand Ole Opry met with huge applause, following the American release of their independent debut album on October 6th, hitting Billboard Heatseekers Top 10 and iTunes Top 10 charts.
January 2015 found the boys playlisted at BBC Radio 2 with their single, “Be My Girl.” In February they sold out their first headline show in London at The Barfly, which was followed by shows in Manchester and Glasgow. John & Jacob are published writers in Nashville writing such Billboard #1 hits as “Done” with The Band Perry. They have also had “Be My Girl”, placed in ABC’s hit TV show, “Nashville.”

Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
