Here in the seaside life of Jupiter, Florida, we have many extremely talented musicians. Most takeoff to find and fulfill their dreams of music in places like Nashville.
They always come home for a visit to get that grounded, family feel. Back to their roots… One of these powerhouses is JessLee. You may recognize her from American Idol, Season 13, and most recently, The Voice, Season 14, where she was selected to be on Team Blake!
Perfect fit for a Country/Florida gal. Well, she has come back, for a bit. Jess grew up in Loxahatchee, a little inland from the ocean, where the cowboys and farmers work and live.
It really is the best of both worlds. Jess prides herself on being a lot country and a little rock ‘n roll. In fact she came up with her own genre of music style called “Punktry”.
Its Country, and Rock with an oh so sassy sound to it. You can hear it all entwined together on her newly released EP, “Strong”.
The 7 songs on the EP are about how women can and are empowered after something happens to them. It’s about taking back your life, which is specifically noted in the song “Tranquilizher” (yes, that’s how it is spelled). Her voice is strong, and thoroughly enchanting. The guitar solos are so rock and roll, and mixing with the country sound, you can certainly feel the “Punktry” coming out! Jess sings about coming back stronger from a rough go at it, and the lyrics are very reflective of this, you can feel it right along with her.
JessLees’s vocals absolutely shine on her Acoustic song, “I’m so in Like with You”. The purity and tone of her voice is quite amazing on this track, trust me, you will want to hear it over and over again.
Give this girl a listen, take notes, she will be a name you will recognize in the future, and girls everywhere will relate to her story of strength and courage during hard times.
