Following the critically-acclaimed release of their latest single ‘Faded’, Bristol-based duo Foreign Affairs released their highly-anticipated EP ‘The Old Fire Station’ on November 30th. Having established themselves as one of the most captivating live acts in recent years, supporting the likes of Frankie Ballard, Aaron Watson, Striking Matches, Margo Price and Larkin Poe, brothers Adam and Lawrence Purnell have been hard at work in the studio and are excited to release the 6-track project, their first body of work since ‘The First’ EP back in 2015. Showcasing their gritty, powerful brand of Americana/Folk, ‘The Old Fire Station’ sets them up for a hugely successful 2019.
Weaving a range of influences with seamless harmonies and undeniably infectious melodies, the new EP displays the duo’s immense diversity and wide-spread appeal. Whether it’s the innocent, piano-led style of ‘I Won’t Let Go’, the punchy, indie-folk infused ‘Faded’ or the gentle, traditional-country sound of ‘Baby Come Home’, every track delivers on quality and great authenticity.
The duo broke onto the British music scene back in 2015 with the release of ‘Sell My Soul’, which received support from BBC Radio and landed them a spot at Glastonbury Festival. Since then, they’ve performed at the likes of Country2Country at The O2, Buckle & Boots Festival, Summertyne Festival and more, becoming a must-see act at events all over the UK. The powerful voice of Lawrence and the flawless harmonies from Adam, combined with their wonderfully intricate style of songwriting, has grabbed attention far and wide, and it’s no surprise that they were nominated as British Country Music’s Duo Of The Year for 2018.
