Corrine Cook

Corinne Cook- This lady has done it all! When reading her bio for this piece, I felt like I knew her, a best friend, a gal pal, someone to admire and look up to. Striving to fulfill her lifelong dream to become that singer/songwriter that she always dreamed about, Corinne had the drive and ambition to make it happen. Growing up in a household full of music, Corinne aspired to take her dream of performer and writing songs to Nashville. Right out of high school she served in the Air Force and Corinne got to travel the world by joining a group of singers that performed for others in the Military and for their families. After her tour was over, Corinne entered a singing competition in California, which is where it led her to Nashville, Music City, and her first recorded album. She has traveled around the world, grew up in a house full of music and songwriting, served in the Air Force during the Gulf war, was a single Mom to 3 children and found a way after her service to our country in  fulfilling her passion for songwriting and performing. There is so much more, and oh how I soaked up her story…This is one strong lady, I use these words to describe Corinne Cook: Determined, Strong, and Tenacious, in the most admirable way.

Knowing the background about this awesome and talented woman, brings to light the story that Corinne conveys in her new album “Yes I Can”. She sings about 4 women who have made an impact on our society today, Rosa Parks, Susan B Anthony, Amelia Earhart, and Sally Ride. This album is a homage to all the strong , forward thinking women of today..

From this new album rises a song “One Box of Tissues”. Which has been recently released.

The song starts off slow with some great harmonies, then it grabs you with the line,

“My heart follows Seven Rules so I don’t feel like a fool”, that’s when the song catches you and makes it real for any break up situation.  Quoting from the song, here are the seven rules:

“Seven days crying ‘cause you’re gone

Six sleeping on the couch alone

Five bottles of sweet red wine

Four pints of rocky road

Three nights of food to go

Two good friends telling me to move on

You’ve got One box of Tissues and I’m done.”

After this verse, the song becomes catchy and kitschy all at the same time.

Corinne sings that the bottom of the box is coming soon, and she’s done! Done meaning, getting over you, and moving on! That’s what strong women do, no more lingering on relationship lost, going to the next phase of life with willful determination.

Get this album, listen to all the songs, it will make you that much stronger, happier, wanting to succeed! (woman or man)..:)

Annette Gibbons
Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
