Coffee with Lindsay Ell

lindsayellMost of us know Lindsay Ell from when she supported The Band Perry. I was lucky enough enough to interview her earlier in the year and caught up with her during CMA Awards week for a catch up and a coffee.

Its a wet and windy day here in Nashville, Lindsay kindly popped over to the Omni Hotel where I’m staying for a chat.

I saw Lindsay perform at the BBR Music Group party last night and we had a chat about the event and performing to a smaller crowd.

“I always tailor my performance to the crowd I’m about to play, sometimes smaller events are harder as they can see you so closely, they see you breathe! and you can see them too”

Lindsay is busy doing radio tours for her current single “Shut Me Up’ which unfortunately is not available in the UK yet. Lindsay said “we are really working hard with the record company to get this fixed, I want you guys to be able to get my music”

We spoke about the lack of women within the country charts and how that has translated to lack of women at festivals like Country2Country.

“I feel its about to change, there are so many great women singers and we are all having to up our game and be great singers and great performers. We need to stand out” Lindsay certainly stands out, she is so petite but with a huge voice and crazy guitar skills.

I asked if she minded being known as The Girl with the Guitar “I’m happy that people know me for playing the guitar, but I also want them to know me as a performer” people often comment that she is a great guitar player.. for a girl! “Im happy they think I’m a great guitar person.. but I just happen to be a girl”

I asked Lindsay if she plans on coming back to play in the UK “I would  totally love to come back over, its finding the right time, I am busy doing radio at the moment, but I would’ve to come back…maybe around Country2Country” (who else thinks she would be amazing to follow in the footsteps of the Striking Matches as a pop up artist?)

I asked her what would she love to happen in 2015? “A number one song on the radio would be awesome. It would be recognition from fans, radio and other artists”

I hope really Linday gets that Number One, she is so talented and such a lovely person and I cannot wait to see her back in the UK

Thanks Lindsay

Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
