Chatting with Florida GeorgiaLine

fgl1

Since seeing Florida Georgia Line play LP Field at CMA Fest in Nashville, I’ve become a huge fan and was delighted to learn that they would be coming “Over The Pond” to play at Country2Country.

This hot duo has skyrocketed since releasing four consecutive, multi-week #1 smashes in the US and Canada with PLATINUM-certified hits “Stay,” “Get Your Shine On,” “Round Here” and MULTI-PLATINUM breakout debut “Cruise,” making them the only artist in history to join Brooks & Dunn in achieving this accolade.

Tyler Hubbard was kind enough to call me to have a chat about coming over.

Annette          Hi Tyler Thanks so much for speaking to me. I’m here the cold and windy UK

Tyler               Hey Annette, I’m here in Lafayette, (Louisiana) we are playing a show later tonight

Annette          I see you are then off to Mexico with Luke Bryan at Crash My Playa Crash My Playa is a 4-night all-inclusive concert vacation in Mexico

Tyler               Yes Ma’am we are heading over for the weekend and hoping for some nice warm and sunny weather.

Annette          The main thing we are all so excited about is that you are coming over to Europe and playing the UK, have you ever been before?

Tyler               We are so excited to be coming over, we have never been to Europe before so this is new to us. We are actually staying longer and making a little vacation out of the trip.

Annette          Did you realise that Country Music was getting more popular over here?

Tyler               No, not at all….. its really cool!

Annette          So, what are you expecting from the British fans?

Tyler               We really do not know what to expect, We think it will be like starting over again, playing our music and hopefully getting new fans

Annette          I think you already have quite a few fans here!!

Annette          For this trip you are coming over with Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert and Kip Moore to name just a few…. Does it feel like you are on a school vacation with your friends?

Tyler               That’s what makes it so cool. We have toured with many of these guys and we are all friends. It going to be so much fun

Annette          Here in the UK, we don’t have access to that much Country Music on the radio (although it is increasing) So you will find that we know all the songs not just the ones on the radio.

So I have a request.. Can you play “Tip it Back”?

Tyler               That’s funny and good to know. I will speak with BK and see if we can get it in the set.

Annette          Will you need to prepare for your overseas shows any different than the USA shows?

Tyler               It’s really hard to know, I think we will prepare the same and change things up as we go along and see what the fans want.

Annette          You’ve played some huge shows recently, notably the College Football game in Jacksonville Florida between The Gators and The Bulldogs. Are you a Bulldogs fan? I hear BK supports the Seminoles so not too much rivalry at the game?

Tyler               Yes Ma’am, we all pulled for the Bulldogs. It was such a good day

Annette          That show was playing to over 65,000 people, and some of the shows in Europe will be much smaller. I’ve seen you play and the show is full of energy. How do you keep the same energy up for a smaller crowd?

Tyler               Sometimes it’s actually easier in a smaller intimate show. The show is full of energy however many fans turn up

Annette          I was lucky enough to see at The Ryman back in June (I even got to come back stage and say hello!)

Tyler               I think I remember that, I recognise your accent!

Annette          The show was “Stars for Second Harvest” and also I see that Dirt inspired the “Dirt Campaign” for Habitat for Humanity. Its so good to see the charity work.

Tyler               We are so lucky to be where we are and be in a position to help people and give back. Sometimes its a smile othertimes we can help change lives. It is so fulfilling and rewarding.

Annette          You guys are so busy. You have your own “Anything Goes Tour” you’re appearing at festivals throughout the USA and yesterday it was announced you are joining Luke Bryan on the stadium dates of his upcoming “Kick in the Dust” tour. Do you ever rest?

Tyler               We just love what we are doing and its fun for us. It’s our passion.

Annette          So what do you like to do to relax?

Tyler               Hang out at home and recharge the batteries. I like to Dirt Bike, Fish, do some grilling. Its all good for the soul

Annette          You sound like a good ole boy!

Annette         What music to you like to listen to?

Tyler               It depends on what I’m doing, what mood I’m in.  I like a bit of everything, Pop, Ed Sheeran, Drake, Country… I listen to my buddies

I only had time for one more question

Annette          If this tour goes well (which I am sure it will) will you come back and play a longer tour?

Tyler               We’d love to, if it goes well I think we will be planning it as soon as we get back.

Annette          Thanks so much Tyler for taking time to speak to me, I know how busy you are. Enjoy your shows and Mexico and I will see you at Country2Country

Tyler               Thanks Annette, see you soon

Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
