Introducing… Katie Armiger

katie arm

Katie Armiger is set to introduce herself to a whole new market when she plays the popular pop up stages at this years Country to Country festival. You may think she’s a new talent however this lady has been singing country for some time now. Read on to find out more.

Born in 1991, this Texas native has already released four albums stateside. Her debut album, simply titled ‘Katie Armiger’ was released way back in 2007 when she was just 15 years old, unfortunately it failed to set the country charts alight. The same thing happened happened a year later with her second offering ‘Believe’.
Something wasn’t quite adding up, after all there’s some pretty outstanding tracks on both records. including one of my favourites, the ballad ‘Let Him Go’ – in which Armiger gets an invite to a friends wedding but she’s secretly in love with him and realises she has to let him go. It’s such a shame neither albums really struck a big enough chord to be really, noticed. I’m not sure whether it was down to the lack of interest in her at the time, or if there was just not the right amount of promotion.
By this point any major label would’ve dropped her, especially after her second album failed to make any impact. However she’s been lucky enough to be signed to a label that truly believes in her and her craft.

Fast forward two years to 2010 and it seemed like all her previous efforts were starting to pay off, when she gave us her third album, ‘Confessions Of A Nice Girl’, the lead single ‘Kiss Me Now’, a cheeky up-tempo number which tries to entice a guy Katie is convinced wants her too, was her first ever Billboard hit peaking at number 55, while the album reached number 58 on the US country chart.
The album’s biggest success however was it’s third single. ’Best Song Ever’ reached number 42, paving the way for the album’s re-release in 2011. It contained some bonus tracks including ‘I Do But Do I’ and ‘Scream – being the forth and fifth singles to be released respectively. Sadly neither of which matched up to the success of the previous single.

‘Fall Into Me’ is her latest record, and the first of which I bought. It peaked at number 32 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and was met with many positive reviews.

It contained the catchy single ‘Better In A Black Dress’ a song that quite bluntly tells her significant other that she’s not ready to commit to marriage yet. Instead opting for a black dress, perhaps signifying freedom and fun as opposed to settling down.
This record seemed to be the turning point in Armiger’s career. When listening to this album you get a sense of her maturity in both vocal delivery and sound, she’s a little older and a lot more wiser. So much so ‘Fall Into Me’ could be considered her real debut.

2014 saw the release of Katie’s newest single, ‘One Night Between Friends’ – This song is her fourteenth single and as the title suggests it’s a track about hooking up with friend.
She’s a good girl but she can’t get him out of her head, and she can’t promise if it’ll feel right but she wants to go ahead anyway. It’s one of those songs that will get stuck in your head, however she’s still not found that one song to really breakthrough with.

With her fifth album release on the horizon I really hope Katie Armiger finds the success she truly deserves.

Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
