NAME: Christopher Alvin Stapleton

DATE OF BIRTH: April 15, 1978

HOMETOWN: Paintsville, Kentucky

SOUND: Soulful traditional country music characterised by his powerful gravelly vocal tones, with elements of country rock and bluegrass.

BIOGRAPHY: Born in Lexington, Kentucky to a coal miner father and raised in nearby Paintsville, KY, Chris Stapleton found himself moving to Nashville at the age of 23 to pursue a music career. He soon was signed to the publishing company Sea Gayle Music, and since that time has had over 150 of his songs recorded by superstars such as Adele, Luke Bryan (Drink A Beer), Darius Rucker, Tim McGraw (whose ‘Whiskey & You’ appears on Chris’ debut solo album), Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean, George Strait, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney and Josh Turner. Among those 150 are 5 number one hits, leading to him winning 6 ASCAP Awards.

In 2008, Chris joined the bluegrass band The Steeldrivers, and as a result was nominated for three Grammy Awards and an International Bluegrass Music Association Award. Around this time he also contributed to the soundtracks of major motion pictures Cars 2 and Valentine’s Day, and, seeing his future beyond The Steeldrivers, he left them in 2010. Following a brief stint as a founder of the rock band The Jompson Brothers, he signed to Mercury Nashville as a solo artist in 2013 and released his first single ‘What Are You Listening To?’ that July. Although the track only made top 50 on radio, it caught the attention of many industry tastemakers and fans for its soulful tone and substantial lyric.

Alongside continuing to write songs for the likes of Gary Allan, Chris began working on his solo debut album, releasing the single ‘Traveller’ in March 2015. The album of the same name followed in May 2015, and has already received much critical acclaim from all corners of the Nashville music industry and beyond.

ALBUMS: Traveller (2015).

KEY TRACKS: Traveller (2015), What Are You Listening To? (2013), Blue Side of The Mountain (Steeldrivers, 2008), Where Rainbows Never Die (Steeldrivers, 2010), Tennessee Whiskey (2015), Whiskey & You (2015).

Hi, I’m Annette, I have been a huge country music fan since the early 90s those were the days we were lucky enough to have CMT in the UK. I enjoy nothing more than listening to country music whilst having a cold beer (or a moonshine) with friends. I try to as many gigs as I can here in the UK and in the USA; I think of Nashville as my second home and I am lucky to have made some amazing friends in Tennessee. Think Country is something I am very proud of, I just want to share my love and passion of all things country music related with you all.
